Presidential PROOF!

As I have been reporting lots of Monkey News (and other non-human primate news) has been coming out. Most of it trying to paint monkeys in a bad light (probably dim), but here is an article that could have helped me when I ran for President!

Check out the Story: http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2009/02/090202174958.htm

It turns out that a study has found at chimps are awesome at politics. I knew I would have made a good President!

Thumbs UP! - NASA and Follow-Up: MoJo Phoenix in Space

Well well well Mr. Colbert. You may have won the International Space Station naming contest but it seems that NASA doesn't agree.

Story: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/29863574/

It seems that there is a good chance that they will not use your name! (Maybe they will pick mine!) Either way it looks like they might name a toilet after you! Maybe its because of your latest views on chimps, and NASA is on Team MoJo!

So HA! It looks like your name will be on a toilet. Well at least its a toilet in space - I wonder if they have beans up there??

Follow-Up: Peter Tork

Anonymous (from Charlotte, North Carolina) commented on my story about Peter Tork, and said that he is "doing good and is going to be on Inside Edition this month talking about his cancer and his positive attitude towards it."

It turns out that you can visit Peter's Facebook page for more updates. I just got my own Facebook page setup so I could check it out and tried to friend him but he hasn't accepted me yet. I hope I'm doing it right.

Santino on Colbert!

Hi Everybody - It seems that everybody is jumping on the Santino/Monkey News Bandwagon! Now Stephen Colbert is now reporting on Santino!

He thinks that this means that chimps are some kind of time travelers and that we don't always live in the present. We do live in the present - but we are smart! So we are thinking about the future and planning. And we learn from our past - what's wrong with that Mr. Colbert?

He also seems to think that chimps were responsible for killing a former President by the name of Kennedy because he now knows we can plan complex attacks! And that the location was near a banana depository. Well I don't think chimps did it -but I will start reading the Warren Commission report and I'll let you know if I find out anything.

The video/report is below:

Well again this is obvious news for me - but I guess not everyone knows much about us non-human primates. Either way - Watch Out FRRREEEDD!!!!

MoJo Phoenix in space...

I know its a real long shot since I'm getting into the game very late. But It turns out NASA wants some help naming part of the International Space Station so you should vote while you can - although I think "MoJo Phoenix" would be cool! (You can Enter MoJo Phoenix instead of selecting one if you want ; ) )

"NASA wants your opinion in naming the International Space Station’s Node 3 – a connecting module and its cupola – before the two segments travel to space and are installed on the orbiting laboratory. "

Failure to Communicate

In case you didn't know - monkeys floss and they use other tools and they even teach their children how to do the same.

I am not impressed. This is common knowledge! Why are people reporting on this like we are taking our first steps? There was that other story about Santino and how he knew how to plan things. Its like ever since this Travis thing that people are finding stories about monkeys that they find amazing. I don't get it - at least they didn't try to link this behavior with Travis and "bad monkeys".

I have your next story people - Monkeys like Bananas - amazing I know - now go write a story on that!

Thumbs UP! - Thailand

Hi Everybody! It so nice to report on good things for monkeys for a change and it doesn't get much better than this:

It turns out that every year on the last weekend in November in Lopburi (150 km north-east of Bangkok) they hold the Monkey Festival!

It's awesome - It turns out that Lopburi is home to countless monkeys and they have been a major part to the local culture and live side by side with the humans. You heard right! Countless Monkeys! There are so many that they can't even count them. So every year they invite the monkeys to eat fruits and vegetables during an annual feast held in honor of Rama, a hero of the Ramayana, who, it is said, rewarded his friend and ally, Hanuman the Monkey King, with the fiefdom of what is now Lopburi. "Organizers of the annual monkey buffet use more than 3,000 kg of fruits and vegetables for the festival."

"The annual festival takes place on the last weekend in November and is a major attraction for locals and foreign visitors alike. Festivities include a monkey ‘tea party’ where macaques tuck into a spread of fruit, eggs, cucumbers and bananas all prepared in their honour. Last year the monkeys got through around 2,000 kilograms of food provided by locals who believe donating the food will bring them good fortune. "

So clear your calendars and book your flights for next November! I can't wait (I hope I can go, it sounds and looks delicious). After all the monkey bashing that has been going on it looks like there is something to look forward to in the future!

Some Sad News - Peter Tork

Hi Everybody it's me, MoJo. I have some sad news. It has come to our attention here at Piece of MoJo that one of our Monkey brothers (or in this case Monkee brother), Peter Tork has head and neck cancer.

It is reported that he is doing well after a surgical procedure performed this past Wednesday, but our good thoughts go out to him and his family.

We thought bringing attention to the story was a good first step! HANG IN THERE PETER! And let us know if there is anything we can do!

Monday Monkey News: Monkey Plans - We STRIKE after Lunch!

The latest effort to bash non-human primates: this latest story talks about a chimp in Sweden named Santino (pictured above and at the bottom). Apparently he is locked up in a Zoo there and spends his mornings collecting rocks and other items to throw at humans who come to point and laugh at him.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090309/ap_on_sc/eu_sci_sweden_angry_chimp

Although I do not agree with Santino's use of weapons and violence against the humans - I can certainly understand it. I mean how would you feel if someone locked you up so they bring in their friends to come and point and laugh at you? You would probably throw stuff at them eventually.

SO LET SANTINO FREE SWEDEN! You are on my watch list!

Second, they are using this story to show how angry chimps are in relation to Travis! They mask the story as a story to show how chimps are such good planners; because he plans for his attack on the humans by gathering his weapons in the morning. The conspiracy grows.

Bye Everybody

McNugget EMERGENCY!

Apparently there was a McNugget Emergency at a McDonald's in Florida where they ran out of McNuggets. That is sad especially when you get the McNugget Commercial in your head:

Anyway one customer was so upset that she called 911 - I like McNuggets as much as the next monkey, but I think she went a bit too far - its not like the Hamburgler was there!

Thanks Robin for bringing us this story!

Monday Monkey News - MonkeyGate

Hi everybody - It seems that the trouble with Travis has caused an uproar in Congress. Certain people have decided to take this opportunity to outlaw the transportation of monkeys (and other primates) across state lines!

see - http://www.washingtonwatch.com/bills/show/111_HR_80.html

Just because one chimpanzee went bananas it doesn't mean that all primates should be punished. It seems to me that maybe foul play or something like that was involved. The owner gave Travis Xanex and Tea before the incident. Regardless - should all monkeys be punished just because of a bad incident?

I'm not criticizing humans, but every time I watch the news there is at least one story about humans killing other humans and other bad things. Should we pass a law like the "Captive Primate Safety Act" aka the "Monkey Bite Bill", and prevent humans from crossing state borders?

Also as Representative Rob Bishop from Utah said - how would a law against monkeys traveling across borders prevent an incident like the one involving Travis? He didn't cross any borders to go crazy! Sounds like some monkey-hating people decided to use this as an opportunity to punish all monkeys. Sounds like a cover up, conspiracy - we need some investigations! Maybe Fred is behind this? Someone get Woodward and Bernstein on this MonkeyGate scandal.

I enjoy traveling across borders and seeing the world -and reporting back to you my friends! Hopefully we can stop this madness and restore monkey rights and monkey equality!

I will be writing letters to Rob Bishop-R of Utah, Earl Blumenauer-D of Oregon, and Madeleine Bordallo-D of Guam (preview: Thumbs UP to Rob and Thumbs DOWN to the other two!).

Also Thumbs UP! to Jon Stewart of the Daily Show (see below) who brought this to the attention of the hip kids. - Thanks Jon and Rob!

P.S: Isn't there more important things going on that the US government should be concentrating on?
