Where is Banana Sam?

Hi Everybody!

I hope the holidays were great for everyone! And I am sincerely sorry for my lack of communication, but I'm trying to get several projects off the ground.

But I came across this story today and I thought you should know about it. It's about a monkey named Banana Sam - he is from San Francisco and he is missing. Now we don't know if he escaped on his own  from his home at the zoo (which I am fine with) or that he was monkey-napped! (which I am not fine with).

He might have a twitter (http://twitter.com/SF_BananaSam) but we are not sure if it is really him or perhaps his monkey-nappers trying to make it seem like he is okay.

So Banana Sam if you are okay and on your own - let me know - or else the search will continue!

Banana Vending Machine??

WHOA! Dole has made a vending machine that you can get BANANAs from and it's in Japan! So cool! It's the first banana vending machine and its been installed in Shibuya Tokyo near the Hanzomon Line Gate (Japan's subway/metro system). Dole says the bananas have sold out everyday since the machine was put in on June 23rd. It costs 130 yen ($1.45) for a single banana.

Its only the beginning. Soon they will be everywhere and then us monkeys will be more comfortable in the cities- the beginning of the metro-monkey era!

Thumbs UP! - Space Monkeys!

This is a story I wanted to tell everyone about for a long time, but I honestly never got around to doing it. However there has been a lot of news lately about the Apollo Missions in which a human landed on the moon and returned safely back to earth, and it made me think of those incredibly brave space monkeys who were some of the first animals in space - because you humans were just too scared! The picture above is of Baker, a squirrel monkey, who was also a Space Monkey!

Able and Baker were the first living creatures from the US to go into space and experience weightlessness and come back to earth safely. Two years before humans finally got the courage!

10 years had passed where lots of other monkeys tried being astronauts but died for various reasons. Sadly even Able died a few days later due the effects of anesthesia after surgery.

But Baker lived on for another 25 years as an active member in the monkey space community and mostly spent her time at the U.S Space and Rocket Center in Alabama trying to educate humans on how to handle the final frontier!

She was very popular and received almost 150 letters a day up until her death in 1984 of Kidney failure.

We will not forget you Baker - you were one courageous monkey!

LEarn to peel a banana like a monkey from a human?!? I guess I will have to show you guys how to really do it!

I wanted you all to hear about it from me, as the video seems to be making the rounds on the internets.

The problem here really is that the video simply demonstrates one of the many ways to peel a banana - calling it the "monkey style". Not really how we do it. I'm not to sure you should be using the internet if you have to look up "how to peel a banana".

Santino on Colbert!

Hi Everybody - It seems that everybody is jumping on the Santino/Monkey News Bandwagon! Now Stephen Colbert is now reporting on Santino!

He thinks that this means that chimps are some kind of time travelers and that we don't always live in the present. We do live in the present - but we are smart! So we are thinking about the future and planning. And we learn from our past - what's wrong with that Mr. Colbert?

He also seems to think that chimps were responsible for killing a former President by the name of Kennedy because he now knows we can plan complex attacks! And that the location was near a banana depository. Well I don't think chimps did it -but I will start reading the Warren Commission report and I'll let you know if I find out anything.

OH! Hello! You've caught me working out! And you are not the only one! It seems that the Japanese have also caught me and have taken my "Banana diet" to heart. So much that they have run out of bananas! It sure is crazy... I've been on the banana diet forever and it sure keeps me in great shape and makes me feel great too!
